Travel Differently After 55:

Let a Travel Mentor Help You Slow Down and Savor the Journey

If you're an empty nester, 55 or older, and have either never traveled—or you're simply craving something different from the jam-packed, high-powered, stuffy group tours—I invite you to travel through me, your personal travel mentor for the 55+ community

My travel style is all about authentic, immersive experiences. Sure, lots of travel advisors say that, but here's the difference: I won’t have you following a guide waving a stuffed monkey on top of a ski pole. Instead, you’ll be free to meander down colorful, café-lined side streets, sip espresso or wine with locals, and explore at your own pace—without feeling like you're just another tourist.

What Does Authentic Travel Look Like?

Let me paint a picture of day one on one of my curated travel experiences:

After an early check-in—or just dropping off your luggage and picking up your keys at a cozy Airbnb or boutique apartment—you saunter over to the corner café for a light lunch and an Aperol Spritz. It's relaxed, it's local, and it's lovely.

Once your host lets you know your accommodation is ready—complete with a kitchen, private balcony or terrace, and ensuite bedroom—you take a short nap to shake off the travel fatigue. Then you head out to explore and get your bearings. No rigid itinerary, no pressure—just ease into your surroundings.

Settle In, Then Let the Magic Happen

That first day is all about settling into your new home away from home. Get comfortable. Meet a few locals. See some sights. Grab a gelato. Wander a bit. Maybe even stumble across a local festival—you’d be surprised what’s happening just around the corner.

For example, during a recent stay in Cascais, Portugal, we came across a poster for the Chef’s on Fire Food and Music Festival. It featured over 20 local and international chefs and musicians in Parque Marechal Carmona, a beautiful park along the coast. It turned out to be one of the most memorable travel experiences we've ever had—eating regional dishes, listening to Portuguese and Brazilian music, chatting with locals, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere.

Planned or Spontaneous? You Can Have Both

Of course, if you're someone who thrives on structure, we can absolutely plan your days in advance. But I always recommend building in rest days or spontaneous, go-with-the-flow moments. That’s when the true spirit of a place reveals itself—and when travel becomes more than just sightseeing. It becomes a connection.

Ready to Travel Slower, Smarter, and More Soulfully?

If you’ve always dreamed of traveling the world after 55, but weren’t sure how to start—or were overwhelmed by the planning—I’d love to help. As your travel mentor, I’ll help you craft trips that are personal, meaningful, and designed just for you.

Let’s skip the crowds and schedules. Let’s travel like a local. Let’s create the kind of memories you’ll treasure for years to come.
